Reading Gaps Near the Bangkok Open
The first hour after the local open often trades back toward yesterday's close when overnight news was thin. We mark the close as primary support or resistance and the gap midpoint as a secondary reference—not a third full line.
If price stalls at the midpoint with declining range, we treat the gap as likely to fill before noon. A strong opening drive that holds above the gap top for three five-minute bars shifts priority to the overnight high instead.
These rules are taught on paper first. Live screens tempt you to chase the opening spike; the workbook slows that impulse.
Gap logic varies by instrument. Index readers in our workshop use wider zones than single-name equity readers. Match the band width to typical opening range, not to a universal tick count.
